The TopGolfer Tour was excited to include Junior and Senior Scratch Cups at Balmoral Golf Club to its 2014 schedule. Rich in history, this renowned Belfast course is home to the much admired Fred Daly, the first Irish winner of The Open Championship, amongst many other accolades. The club also has a unique claim to fame with its Ryder Cup quartet of players: Fred Daly, Norman Drew, Eddie Polland, and David Feherty.

The Junior Scratch was won by Thomas Kane from Hollystown Golf Club (pictured). The 5-handicapper Dublin golfer produced a sparkling round of 71-gross, claiming victory by 2-shots. As an Order of Merit Player, Thomas has now secured one of the sought after places at the TopGolfer Tour Championships at Portmarnock Links, resigning his 19th place on the OOM Table for 2014.

Runner up was Joseph Kayes (7) from Balmoral GC, who produced a fine round of 73-gross to beat his handicap by 3-shots on the day. On 75-gross, 3rd place went to Johnathan Hewitt (5) from Loughgall GC. Also from Hollystown GC, 4th place went to James Green (5) on 76-gross. Best nett went to Karl O’Neill from Blainroe GC.

Flying the home flag, victory in the Senior Scratch went to Matthew McClean from Balmoral GC. The +1 golfer cruised to an 8-shot victory after impressive rounds of 70-73. Congratulations to Matthew, who now goes forward to the TopGolfer PlayOffs at New Forest GC on 21st September 2014.

Runner up was Damien McCusker (+1) from Moyola Park GC on 151. 3rd Place was Joseph Hannigan (4) from Navan GC, a great days work for an OOM competitor who is set to improve on his 14th Position on the OOM table. 4th Place went to Trevor Gilliland Jnr (3) from Antrim GC. Best 18 prizes went to Tiarnan McLarnon (+2) from Massereene GC and Nicholas Armstrong (3) from The Castle GC.
