Dromoland SSC & JSC 2013
The TopGolfer Tour’s only visit to Co. Clare is always a really good one, as Dromoland has what it takes to host quality Scratch Cups. The course was in pristine condition for the golfers, and a strong field of players from Munster and Connaught assembled to do battle.
Playing off 2 handicap, local Dromoland GC member Sean Burns took victory in the Senior Scratch on 150. Rounds of 78-82 was good enough to edge fellow member Tony Cleary (+2) on 152. 3rd was Lewy Halpin (3) from Slievenamon GC on 154, and 4th place was David O’Donovan (Scr) from Muskerry GC on 155. Prize winners (1st to 4th) are advised to contact Dromoland Golf Shop to arrange the delivery / collection of their prize.
Victory in the Junior Scratch went to Alan Purcell. Playing off 5 handicap from Adare Manor GC, Alan’s gross score of 75 took victory on a last 9 countback. 2nd place went to Nicky Ryan (6) from Woodstock GC, who fell just short of victory on this occasion. The remaining prizes went to: 3rd place was Seamus Cusack (6) from Dromoland GC on 78, 4th place to Eric Walsh, and Best Nett went to Gerry Barrett. Again, Prizes (1st to 4th + Best Nett) have been left at Dromoland Golf Club for collection.
Not an easy day for scoring – CSS JSC 75, CSS SSC Rd1 75, CSS Rd2 SSC 75.
