Fitzpatrick takes the Cup, Malner takes the Invitation at Dunmurry Springs

Rob Fitzpatrick (4) took his second TopGolfer Junior Scratch Cup title today winning on a countback at Dunmurry Springs. The champion at Rathsallagh, Rob just edged out fellow Dunmurry Springs member Kevin Malner (5) who let the title slip from his grasp on 18 taking four putts to finish. Malner does however get recognition for his good round securing the invitation to the TopGolfer Tour Championship as Rob Fitzpatrick had already secured his place from his win at Rathsallagh last month.

The blue course at Dunmurry really showed its teeth today as the early rain cleared and the wind picked up. Few could handle the conditions as the penal rough and Dunmurry’s eray of challenging par 4’s and par 3’s took their toll on the field. SSS was 75, an indication of just how tough it was.

Third and taking home a magnificent Kartel Wet Suit was Stephen Finlan (5) of Killeen, with fellow club member Martin Greene (5) taking fourth spot and a very fine Motocaddy Golf Bag.

There were 88 competitors. Photos from the day are available to view and purchase in our gallery.
