HOLLYSTOWN JSC & SSC RESULTS 2014
The TopGolfer Tour visited Hollystown Golf Club for the first time on Sunday for a Junior and Senior Scratch Double header. Its original 18-holes (now 27-holes) were designed by the renowned Eddie Hackett, which has been receiving much praise since it’s opening in 1992.
Its possible that this venue is often overlooked by single figure golfers, perhaps in the misguided belief that it doesn’t have a ‘championship’ length. TopGolfer Tour was delighted to set the record straight by including this North Co. Dublin venue into the 2014 schedule.
Unfortunately the heavens opened once again, forcing a non-counting event with placing, and a reduced field of players. Those golfers that did complete their rounds must be commended for their commitment.
One of the most consistency and committed players around must be Stephen Finlan (pictured), who once again proved his class by storming home to victory in the Junior Scratch by 3-shots. The Palmerstown Stud Golf Club player has twice won the TopGolfer Tour Order of Merit and victory in the Hollystown Junior Scratch marks his second Scratch Cup title of 2014, having earlier won the Bunclody Junior Scratch.
On 77-gross, the next six places all when to countbacks. 2nd place on the day went to Shay O’Neill from Hollystown Golf Club with the best 77-gross score from the pack. As Stephen Finlan has already progressed to the Finals, Shay O’Neill will now go forward to the TopGolfer PlayOffs at New Forest later this year.
Other prize winners on the day were all Hollystown Golf Club members: 3rd place Thomas Kane, 4th place Shane O’Connor, and 5th place Ivan Mannion.
Victory in the Senior Scratch went to Stephen Kinch from Hollystown Golf Club. The 1-handicap golfer produced the round of the day, a superb 72-gross. Stephen will now join fellow member Shay O’Neill in the TopGolfer PlayOffs at New Forest later this year.
Other prize winners on the day went to: 2nd place Kevin Canavan (Corballis GC), 3rd place Daniel Murphy, 4th place David Ryan(Hollystown GC), 5th place Derek Burke (Deer Park GC).
