Kavanagh is King at Glen of Downs JSC
Congratulations to Paul Kavanagh from Courtown GC who won the Glen of the Downs Junior Scratch Cup with an excellent score of 72-gross (+1). As an Order of Merit competitor, the 4000 Order of Merit points will also be well received, strengthening his position in the final stages of the season.
This scenic Co. Wicklow venue has been enjoyed by TopGolfer players for a few seasons now, and players travelled from afar yet again to compete on the Peter McEvoy designed course.Playing from the Blue tees at Glen of the Downs GC is a good test in its own right, but throw in a firm breeze on slick greens on top of that and you have a serious challenge. It was a day for patience, and a day to grind out a score. CSS 73.
Runner up on the day as Martin Smyth from Druids Heath GC, also shooting 72-gross but being pipped on a back 9 countback.
The Nature Valley Order of Merit continues to provide more twists and turns. PJ Doyle regains his lead at the top, after a 75-gross saw the Mountain View GC man take 3rd place on the day.
4th and 5th place also went to Order of Merit contenders. Lar Ryan from Rathdowney GC took 4th on 76-gross and Michael Ryan from Tipperary GC took 5th place, continuing his good form after his win at Mountrath JSC.
These five prize winners (1st – 5th) need to email TopGolfer on [email protected] to arrange the collection/ delivery of their prize.
