Kelly Grinds out Victory at Mt. Juliet SSC

The TopGolfer Tour returned for the second time this season to the famed Nicklaus Course in Kilkenny. With the title of Mount Juliet Senior Scratch Champion up for grabs, surely that’s one to keep in the memory banks.

An immaculately groomed and presented course should generally lead itself to low scores, but cleverly tucked away pin positions coupled with torrential down powers meant Senior Scratch golfers had to work hard to grind out a score. This was reflected in the CSS rising to 74 (+2).

Playing off 1 handicap from Naas GC, Warren Kelly skilfully grinded out a level par 72 to win the title via countback from Gavin Smyth. The plus 2 handicap golfer from Clonmel GC was heavily tipped to do well, having finished 4th in Castletroy SSC a few weeks back. 3rd place went to scratch golfer Eoin O’Sullivan from The Island GC.

Prize winners (1st to 3rd) should contact Francis or Ryan in the Golf Shop on 056-7773064 to arrange the collection / delivery of their prize. Please note, 1st and 2nd prize can be posted.
