Kennedy is King at Glen of the Downs JSC

Congratulations to Edward Kennedy (5) from Woodbrook Golf Club who won the Glen of the Downs Junior Scratch Cup.

This scenic Co. Wicklow venue has been enjoyed by TopGolfer players for a few seasons now, and players travelled from afar yet again to compete on the Peter McEvoy designed course.

Playing from the Blue tees at Glen of the Downs Golf Club is a good test in its own right, but throw in a relentless wind on top of that and you have a serious challenge. It was a day for patience, and a day to grind out a score.

Order of Merit contender John Buggie (5) from Mountrath Golf Club took second place. A superb 75-gross was good enough to pip local favourite Johnny Green (5) from Glen of the Downs on a back-9 countback. The 2273pts also sees John take a giant leap up the leaderboard, putting himself into a strong position to contend for the 2014 Order of Merit title.

Patrick O’Brien (5) from Donabate Golf Club took 4th place with 76-gross. Best nett went to James Hayden (7) of Cahir Park Golf Club with 77.

A tough day - CSS 72.
