Keith Murphy from Charlesland Golf Club is the County Wicklow Champion, after shooting impressive rounds of 70-68 to win by three shots.

It’s not very often that golfers get the chance to call themselves a County Champion, but Delgany Golf Club has been home to the County Wicklow Senior Scratch Cup for many a year. Over 60-players teed it up on the day, keeping this Senior Scratch high on the list of quality Scratch Cups in Leinster.

Delgany’s association with four Ryder Cup Players (Eamonn Darcy, Harry Bradshaw, John O’Leary, Jimmy Martin) makes this venue a special place to host a Senior Scratch Cup – and certainly justifies its right to host a County event.

Second, third and fourth places all went to a back 18 countback, as three players finished up on at total of 141. Kevin Purcell (Slievenamon GC) took 2nd after a second round 71, while the Delgany players of Gary Flynn and Patrick Mulford took 3rd and 4th respectfully. Patrick had shot the round of the day on 67 gross – but his challenge faded throughout the day. The last place in the prizes went to Ian Lynch from Rosslare GC, finishing on 142 to take 5th place..
