VIEW PREVIEW OF MONDAY NIGHT GOLF ON SETANTA SPORTS

Setanta Sports have confirmed a new Monday night line-up of programming from the Golf Channel in the US. The hit series that American golf fans are familiar with will now be available to viewers in Ireland. The new four hour Golf Channel block starts from today, Monday Aug 20th on the Setanta Ireland channel and initially features shows such as ‘Feherty’, ‘Golf Channel Academy’, ‘Big Break Ireland’, ‘Being John Daly’, ‘The Haney Project’ and ‘Golf Central’.

Brian Quinn, Marketing Director for Setanta Sports commented “I have seen many episodes of these shows and I’m delighted to be able to secure them for an Irish audience. Golf Central is already a daily fixture in our schedule and we have now built Monday nights around it. A typical Monday night will start off with golf tuition on Golf Channel Academy followed by Golf Central at 6.30. Being John Daly is a series that provides an insight into what it’s like to be golf’s most colourful character. Big Break Ireland was filmed on location at the K Club and is a 10 part series that pits 12 aspiring golf pros against each other to see who can win the grand prize of a tour exemption. Tommy ‘two gloves’ Gainey is a former Big Break winner.

At 8.30 and perhaps of most interest to Irish viewers will be Feherty as he conducts in-depth interviews with some of the top stars in golf such as Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Luke Donald and Graeme McDowell. Feherty also interviews golf’s big characters who are no longer on tour such as Fuzzy Zoeller, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman and Tom Watson amongst others. Finally, The Haney Project at 9.30 sees Tiger’s former coach trying to teach American comedian Ray Romano the finer points of the swing.”

Golf Channel on Monday nights will run from August 20th through next year. The Setanta Ireland channel is available on UPC Channel 105 and, Sky Channel 423 and on eircom broadband.

Episode 1: 12 golfers head to Ireland in search of an $80,000 pot of gold and two Tour exemptions. All their skills and their confidence will be put to the test.

20:30 – 21:30 Feherty
From the Golf Channel, David Feherty interviews some legends of the game and gets rare and witty insights. Tonight, it’s Greame McDowell’s turn.

21:30 – 22:00 The Haney Project - Ray Romano
Hank Haney, former coach to Tiger Woods, spends a series grappling with improving the golf game of comedian, Ray Romano.
