Shanahan and Maher triumph at Bunclody
TopGolfer was thrilled to announce the inclusion of Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club to the exciting list of 2013 Tour venues earlier this year. This quality Jeff Howes design is a perfect layout for hosting a Scratch Cup, which was obviously recognised by the large field of 150 players that turned up to compete in the 2013 Junior and Senior Scratch Cups.
The course conditions were perfect, but blustery showers and a firm breeze was always going to test the players from the back tees.
Victory in the Senior Scratch went to Mark Shanahan from Castlemartyr Golf Resort. Playing off a handicap of +3, the Waterford man was expected to feature prominently on the final leaderboard. Mark now goes forward to the TopGolfer PlayOffs at Concra Wood later this year.
The Junior Scratch was won by Niall Maher from Mountrath Golf Club. Playing off 6 handicap, Niall carved out a superb round of 77 gross to claim victory by 1-shot. As Niall was a pre-registered Order of Merit player, he has now secured his place in the 2-day TopGolfer Tour Championships at The Heritage Resort in October.
