The TopGolfer Tour for 2010 drew to a close yesterday at Charlesland Golf Club in Greystones with 86 players traveling from far and wide to compete in this penultimate event.

The final place at the 2010 Tour Championship Finals was up for grabs….. and was taken in style by TJ Kelly from Killeen Golf Club. The regular TopGolfer Tour player claimed the title with a superb 71 (-1) which perfectly wraps up a fantastic season for a golfer who has shot down from a handicap of 10 at the beginning of the season to 5 this year.

The golf course was set up in true championship style. The blue markers were pushed to the back and the course played to its fullest distance at 6,169 metres. The par-72 layout was a true challenge, and only 14 players managed to break 80 on the day.

Local favourite, Peter O’Hagan had to settle for 5th place as Old Conna members Peter Flood and Gerard Hutchinson took 3rd and 4th respectively with better last 9 holes.

2nd place went to Mark Hoey (Killiney Golf Club), who must have thought it was his day after holing his approach to the index 1 – 14th Hole, en route to a level par 72. This is only the second time in 20 years that an eagle has been recorded at this challenging par-4 hole.

CSS was 72, and the Betfair Nearest the Pin was won by Eoin O’Toole (5ft 1”).
